We would like to express our gratitude to those of you who voted for St Giles International for this year¡¯s Study Travel Magazine Star Awards! We are delighted to have been nominated for STM Star Chain School 2014.
Since its establishment in 1955, St Giles has grown into a successful language school group with seven year-round adult centres as well as junior summer centres in the UK, USA and Canada. We are proud to have built an international reputation for high quality education for English students around the world. Still a family-owned business today, we offer almost 60 years of experience in the English language teaching industry. Now, approximately 14,000 students from over 100 different countries choose St Giles for their language learning needs every year.
You may be interested to learn that St Giles London Central has unexpectedly managed to acquire additional ensuite residential accommodation this summer and I would like to offer you the opportunity to take advantage of our good fortune by enjoying a 15% saving on new residential accommodation bookings (Frances Gardner House only) made for weeks in July.
The high standard self-catering ensuite accommodation is located at Frances Gardner House which is a convenient 10 minute walk away from Kings Cross/St Pancras and our centrally-located school. Our published rate for these rooms is £335 per week but as an extraordinary good will measure we are prepared to offer these rooms at a gross discount of £285 per week to your clients.
Remember that London Central is the home to the Big Summer social programme (see attachment) this summer and as well as receiving a friendly welcome and excellent service your clients will have an unforgettable experience with us enjoying chartered boat trips on the Thames, special excursions, exciting school parties and roof garden barbecues.
We are writing to let you know that Transport for London is planning a 48-hour tube strike from 21:00 GMT on Monday, 28th April 2014 and a 72-hour tube strike from 21:00 GMT on Monday, 5th May 2014
This means that many St Giles students in London during this time will need to find an alternative route to school. Our London schools have sent the following information to students. If any of your students will be in London during these times, please forward on this information:
The school will be open as normal and please be assured that getting to school is possible, it just means that you will need to plan ahead and leave earlier than normal.
For many of you, the easiest way to the school will be by using the bus or overground service which will be operating as normal. Please note there will be some limited tube services in operation.
The services expected to run can be viewed at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modes/tube/services-we-expect-to-run.
Here is some travelling advice which may help you to plan your journey:
¡¤ Visit the Transport for London website (www.tfl.gov.uk) for up to date travel information – they may decide not to go ahead with the strike!
¡¤ Plan your journey in advance, for example the day before you plan to travel.
¡¤ While the tube strike is on, leave your house around an hour earlier than you normally would to get to school on time.
¡¤ If you have a smart phone, download an application such as ¡°London Bus Live Countdown¡± or ¡°Bus Mate¡± which will help you to plan your journey, and give you information about what time buses will arrive.
¡¤ If you are staying in a homestay, ask your host for local travel information.
¡¤ If you can, travel with a friend – it will make the journey quicker.
¡¤ Do not panic. Taking the tube is convenient but it is not the only way to travel in London. You will still be able to get around and if you take a little bit of time to plan ahead it will go smoothly.
