I regret to tell you that we have made the difficult decision to close our Auckland campus. Please note that our Christchurch campus will remain open and there are no plans to close it.
The number of students at CCEL Auckland is getting smaller week by week. The COVID-19 Border restrictions introduced by the NZ government means new students are unable to enter NZ, and unfortunately, we expect this situation to continue for some time.
The last day of classes at CCEL Auckland will be 8th May 2020.
I am sorry if you are receiving this information again as we informed you individually that we are working with our current CCEL Auckland students and are presenting them with several options for continuing their study in NZ. For students who do not wish to continue their studies ? we will offer them a full refund of their unused fees.
For those students who have enrolled but not started yet, we will work with them and our partners individually on new study plans.
I would like to thank you very much for your support over the years. CCEL is committed to continuing to work together with you, and we look forward to your continued support for CCEL Christchurch.
Please contact me at any time if you have any questions at all.
Warm regards
Mel

I thought it would have been more difficult to get involved in the school system and facilities but I really found it easier than expected thanks to the teachers, the staff and the magnificent people I met
Teachers are very well prepared, the environment and the course are very interesting and can keep us always happy.
I loved it all, and Ill come back to study more as soon as possible.

The CELTA (Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is a highly-regarded internationally recognised qualification awarded by Cambridge English. It is for native or near native (equivalent to IELTS 7.5 or above) English speakers who have little or no previous English language teaching experience. It is also ideal for more experienced teachers without an equivalent qualification. CCEL offers internships or work experience to all eligible CELTA candidates after the course.
Prepare for an internationally recognised English qualification by taking a Cambridge Exam Preparation course B2 First (FCE) or C1 Advanced (CAE) at CCEL. The courses are designed to develop and strengthen students overall knowledge and use of English, as well as improving their exam skills.
This course is suitable for students from 14 to 17 years old who wish to study English, make new friends from around the world, and experience the exciting activities New Zealand has to offer, in a fun and safe environment. The course consists of English classes in the mornings and an exciting calendar of activities in the afternoons.
STARTING SOON : 24 June 2019
LOCATION : Auckland
COURSE LENGTH : 8 weeks
HOURS PER WEEK :20 (morning classes) + 2 (afternoon activities)
CCELs EAP courses prepare students for tertiary study. We have run the course for many years and have a strong track-record of producing successful tertiary students.
There are 2 levels and a number of pathways and for the first time we are offering EAP 2 in Auckland.
EAP 1 prepares students for entry to non-university institutions, such as UC International College (UCIC). This course is offered only in CCEL Christchurch
EAP 2 is offered in Christchurch and Auckland. It provides a direct pathway to the University of Canterbury in Christchurch and to Massey University Business School in Auckland.
Some courses are starting soon. Advise your students to not miss out on their preferred course by applying late!
IMPORTANT REMINDER
The devastating event in Christchurch has highlighted the importance of the 2 points below:
STUDENT CONTACT NUMBERS
We ask you to ensure that your students provide us with
(1) their personal phone numbers (from their home country or New Zealand) and
(2) their emergency contacts (from their home country or in New Zealand).
It is very important that these numbers are 100% accurate. Please ask your students to:
Double check the numbers
Include the country phone code of all phone numbers. This will look like this: [COUNTRY PHONE CODE] [PHONE NUMBER]. As an example, NZ's country code is '+64', so it will look like : [+64] [3 343 3790].
Remind students that relevant CCEL staff can be contacted via phone call, mobile messaging, WhatsApp and WeChat.
STUDENT INSURANCE
International students (including group students) must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.
Having appropriate insurance coverage gives students the peace of mind that they are covered for any possible incidents during their studies here.
Please ensure that your students have the correct insurance that is aligned with NZQA's Code of Practice. Here are some aspects to always keep in mind:
Does their insurance cover their return flights in the event the student needs to go back to their home country (repatriation)? Does the repatriation cover the costs of family members who come to travel with the returning student?
Does their insurance cover their medical care including diagnosis, prescription, and hospitalisation?

We run regular activities for students outside of class. These activities are a great way for students to make new friends, explore Christchurch or Auckland and New Zealand and learn about Kiwi culture.
Our Friday activities change every week. It might be cooking, where students can learn to make different foods from New Zealand or around the world. Earlier this year our students enjoyed making sushi and last week they made delicious crepe cakes. Other times we take students on outings to various places around Christchurch or Auckland. Recently the students have visited the Christchurch Botanical Gardens and the Mega Air Trampoline Park, and in Auckland there have been trips for coffee and cake in the cute suburb of Parnell and informative walks around the historic village of Devonport.
For weekend trips, we work with long-standing activity partners: Hello New Zealand in Christchurch and Auckland Adventures in Auckland. These partners run exciting trips and these are a fantastic way for students to see more of New Zealand outside of the cities where they study, with an experienced tour guide. Recent trips have included the beautiful seaside towns of Akaroa and Kaikoura, and the magnificent scenery of Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook. In Auckland, students have travelled to the very north of New Zealand at Cape Reinga and stopped off at the Bay of Islands and Ninety Mile Beach.
Over the upcoming Easter holiday weekend students can visit Queenstown and Milford Sound in the South Island or in Auckland students can travel to Rotorua, Taupo and Waitomo or choose a shorter one day trip to Hobbiton. We hope that many students can join these incredible tours!
