News Letter

Language Schools New Zealand

I hope you, your friends, families and students are all well

- Queenstown:

Here in Queenstown we are all fine. We are so lucky to be in a safe place. We watch and follow the news offshore, and it gets worse and worse.  It's so sad to see so many people in so many places that we have visited and hosted students from, in such a dire situation. But we know it will finish someday, and when that times comes, we will all, you and us, rely on each other to rebuild our lives and business.

- Update LSNZ:

So what's happening with us here at LSNZ in queenstown.  Our team is doing well and students are continuing to enjoy our school.

From this week we will be down to two classes according to our student numbers and levels.  At this stage we intend to pause our school operations on Friday 25th September, until the border conditions allow us to reopen our school.

It's been a great ride so far 27 years and not over yet!

From me personally, thank you all so much, you wonderful friends and supporters for you friendship, belief and support.

- Winter in Queenstown:

It is quite surreal to be on the ski field, out socialising, or enjoying life when we know so many people have such a different reality.

Update 13 August

2020:  As you may have seen, there are now several cases in Auckland or suspected community transmission.  So sad after 102 days with none in the community.  But our team of 5 million are doing what we can to keep everyone safe

For a few days Auckland is in lockdown to tray and trace and contain it.  Here we are up a level of safe practice.  We have made the changes to our school ? quite easy now its so small ?

See you soon!

Kiha Kaha (be strong)

and we will keep you posted

- Update LSNZ:

We are  enjoying pot luck dinners, social events and doing what we do well here in Queenstown (and New Zealand)

Sadly last week we said goodbye for now to some great staff who have worked here for a long time.  It will be a sad graduation, but also with a lot of happy memories.  All staff have advised that they really want to come back to work for us when this

is all over.

 - INZ update:

From 10 August, the Government will suspend the ability for people offshore to apply for a temporary visa (this includes most visitor, work and student visas) for 3 months.

  • To date, INZ has not been processing visas for individuals who are offshore unless they meet the strict border exception criteria. This is because legally INZ is unable to grant visas to individuals who are unlikely to meet entry requirements.
  • As the border is closed, students will not meet entry requirements and as a result, we are unable to process and decide offshore applications. However, individuals have still been able to submit visa applications, and this is causing confusion as they expect their applications to be processed.
  •  As INZ is unable to process offshore applications, any documents submitted to INZ in support of an application will quickly become out of date.  When processing resumes, the applicant will face additional costs and effort to update essential information (such as chest x-rays which are required where there is a TB risk).
  • Some applicants are submitting their visa applications now in the hope that they will be first in the queue once processing offshore applications resumes. While INZ generally processes in date order, this is not always the case. A General Instruction can be issued that determines the order and manner of processing, and this may not be in date order.   Applying now is not a guarantee that the application will be first in line when processing resumes. INZ will be processing according to the priorities set by the Government.

Big thanks and warm regards from Guy and the whole team here at LSNZ in Queenstown.

Update from LSNZ 6 August

Hello everyone. I hope you, your friends, families and students are all well! Here in Queenstown we are all fine. We are so lucky to be in a safe place. We watch and follow the news offshore, and it gets worse and worse. It is quite surreal to be on the ski field, out socialising, or enjoying life when we know so many people have such a different reality. We are enjoying pot luck dinners, social events, and doing what we do so well here in Queenstown (and New Zealand).

Its so sad to see so many people in so many places that we have visited and hosted students from, in such a dire situation. But we know it will finish someday, and when that time comes, we will all, you and us, rely on each other to rebuild our lives and businesses.

So whats happening with us here at LSNZ in Queenstown. Our team is doing well and students are continuing to enjoy our school. From next week we will be down to two classes according to our student numbers and levels. At this stage, we intend to pause our school operations on Friday 25th September, until the border conditions allow us to reopen our school. The real uncertainty is that we dont know when the borders will open.  But when they do, we intend to be here, ready to recommence doing what we do so well! For students who have booked, tell them we are very much looking forward to seeing them here in the near future once we are through this once in a generation event.

Stay healthy, happy, and well. Look after yourself and see you again!

4 Update from LSNZ
Update from LSNZ
Hello everyone
Here's an update from us at LSNZ in Queenstown

School is open and going well. It's very nice to be back!

20200520_104143.jpg

Weather is amazing. We've had a looong Indian summer which means extended lovely Autumn

This has been a great place to spend lock down

Now New Zealand is one of the best countries in the world concerning  Covid-19. We have just one active case and no one in hospital, so it will be zero cases soon

Well done team NZ!

Also the South Island has been clear with zero cases for quite a while now

We just had a long weekend and many New Zealanders came to Queenstown for a holiday. Town was busy and very active

It was great! Also some nice family and activity time

image0.jpeg

Nice to get back to normal for a long weekend at least

We are now offering specials to any students who want to come to our school. If you have students already in NZ, ask them what they have been offered at another school and ask us to match it!

Also now our student accommodation prices are the lowest ever, so the cost of living is definitely not a barrier anymore! Just $120/week twin share

We are completing our first new Oasis apartment in several weeks

Please keep in touch with us. Let us know how you are doing and how we can help each other to get through this time

Warmest regards from Queenstown

Hello Everyone.

Very happy day here at LSNZ in Queenstown

Today we have moved back into our school building.

Well done our team.  Teachers did a great job teaching online.  Admin did a great job doing all that work that needed to be done, and Helan did a great job making sure all students were ok and well looked after.

We are all so happy to be back.

New Zealand has done a great job as well.

The lower south Islands has had no Covid-19 cases for 27 days!

We are now at level 2.

https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus

so we still have to follow the new rules and keep safe, but we are in one of the safest places in the world right now!

Well done New Zealand!

I hope you are all safe and fine and that in your location things are also improving

Update from LSNZ 20 April
Hello everybody. I hope you are doing okay. The first big news from us is that yesterday was our schools 27th birthday. Well done to our team which includes our staff, students, agents, homestay families and everybody else.

Next is COVID-19 news. Our prime minister announced today that we will stay in level four lockdown For one more week and next Monday the 27th at midnight we will move to level three.

We are not able to open our school safely at level three and we will continue with online classes. However after two weeks at level three the government will revisit and if we are doing well we may move to level two after that. We will be able to move back into our school building for face-to-face classes in level two.
As a country New Zealand has done really well concerning COVID-19. All of the indicators; infections, deaths, community transmission and rate of transmission per infected person are all really low compared to most countries. We talked about our team of 5 million people and we have done well.
Thats the good news for today. Thanks to everyone for your support. Together we can get through this.

Please write with any questions.

Regards.

Guy and the lsnz team.

Please find attached information and some photos regarding the new house. Please note that we are still charging NZD 300.00 house bond and for the new bookings we receive after the 5th March we will be refunding NZD 265.00 as we are keeping NZD 35.00 for cleaning fee.
