It is with great excitement that we announce that on February 26, 2018, ELS/New York – Manhattan will relocate to a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility on the ninth floor at 17 Battery Place, New York, NY 10004.
The new location for ELS/New York – Manhattan is adjacent to Battery Park in lower Manhattan, with views of the Statue of Liberty and the Hudson River, and immediate access to the subway, NYC buses, as well as the ferry to New Jersey. This beautiful and safe area of New York City offers our students vibrant surroundings with numerous restaurants, cafes, and exquisite shopping. Our new ELS Language Center facility is in the heart of New York’s Financial District, only 2.4 kilometers from our present location at 75 Varick St.
Our new New York – Manhattan Center has been professionally designed to provide students a visually attractive and welcoming learning environment. Each classroom is equipped with the technology to support your students in their success. Between classes, students will appreciate meeting with their friends in the stunning student lounge where they can enjoy socializing over a meal or coffee, viewing programs on the large flat screen TV, or simply savoring the views of Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty just outside the windows.

The University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN), and ELS recently signed an agreement which marked the beginning of a new phase in their 20-year partnership – to develop an undergraduate pathway program.
This pathway program – the first undergraduate pathway for ELS – will prepare international students for academic study at the University by allowing them to take English courses and core requirement courses simultaneously within their first year – enabling them to progress to year two and pursue the degree program of their choice.
“Through the UST ELS Pathway program, we will better fulfill Rev. John Ireland’s founding goal for St. Thomas to reach students who otherwise did not have access to a quality college education. We are excited about this opportunity to serve more international students while increasing our international presence on-campus and abroad,” said UST Associate Vice Provost for Global Learning and Strategy, Tim Lewis.
The University of St. Thomas is ranked #115 in National Universities by U.S. News & World Report. International students in this pathway program can pursue a degree in one of UST’s most popular undergraduate programs, such as science, finance, business, and the nationally ranked #29 engineering program (U.S. News & World Report).
“The 20-year partnership between ELS and the University of St. Thomas has proven that we share the same commitment to providing international students with education of the highest quality and standards. The University of St. Thomas Pathway Program aims to enroll its first international students in 2019, and will offer a combination of programs and services such as courses for degree credit, counseling, and English-language support.

*By the way, the residence policy had been changed for sometime now. The student must be between the ages of 17 and 25, students must enrolled in EAP or GEN, and student must stay for a minimum of 2 consecutive sessions.*

ELS가 새롭게 기술인프라를 구축하여 작년 12월에 북미지역 전 센터의 랩실을 최신식으로
업데이트 하면서 전형료와 교재비 각각에 대하여 $10 인상하였다고 합니다.
인상된 가격은 2016년2월15일부터 접수되는 지원서부터 적용됩니다.

질문) ELS에서 대학진학지도 및 조건부로 가고자 하면 EAP과정을 들어야하는걸로 알고 있는데 연수 전기간 다 들어야하는지 최소 단위로 EAP를 얼마큼 들어야 한다는 조건이 있는지요. 학생이 일반영어 과정을 공부하다가 현지에서 조건부로 가고자 하는 것으로 계획이 바뀌었을 때 EAP로 과정 변경이 가능한지요?
답변) 네, 일반영어 듣다가 EAP로 전환 가능합니다. 다만, EAP 과정의 커리큘럼은 좀더 아카데믹하기 때문에 조금 낮은 레벨로 배정이 되거나, (예를 들어, 일반영어 107을 이수하고 EAP로 변경할 경우, EAP 과정 무조건 108에 자동으로 배정되는 것은 아님) EAP 과정에서 코스를 수강하는 중에 FAIL 할 가능성 등을 고려하여 조건부 입학날짜보다 조금 넉넉하게 신청하시는게 안전합니다.
