Warm greetings from UC San Diego. Thank you for your continued partnership through these challenging times. We hope you and your families are staying well.
Return to Learn and the Hybrid Model
Students have returned to the UC San Diego campus this Fall 2020 and they are taking a combination of in-person and online classes in a "hybrid" format. The university's Return to Learn plan includes frequent testing and daily self-screenings for all students, staff, and faculty who go to campus.
We are excited to introduce our online Business Certificate, which can be taken on its own or count as the first quarter of our Business Management Certificate. Designed for working professionals around the world, the Business Certificate will refine important business skills through the following classes:
Financial Accounting for Non-Accountants (4 units)
Business Communication Skills (3 units)
Organizational Behavior (3 units)
Elements of Marketing (3 units)
All classes are offered on a quarterly basis (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall) and students can take any combination of classes and quarters, as long as they complete the certificate in one year.
Several partners have contacted us to request online programs or classes in 2021. Look out for a survey next week, asking for your opinion on the types of courses your students would like. We look forward to announcing additional online options in the coming months!

Warm and sunny greetings from UC San Diego Extension International Programs! We hope your summer has been excellent so far. We remain grateful for your partnership and look forward to another exciting academic year of working together.
Simon Midvedt, Norway University and Professional Studies
"My time in San Diego has been one of the best years of my life. I would say that the reason for this is not that the experience lived up to my expectations, but rather that the experience was so different from my expectations ? and I mean that in a good way. One experience that I think illustrates my point perfectly was having lunch at the Faculty Club with my professor and three other students in my class. I could never have imagined being in such a small and friendly learning environment, let alone getting to eat at one of the most prestigious places on campus! Since I specialize in Bionanotechnology, I have taken different Biology classes. One specific class I took was Foundations of Bioinformatics, which was by far the best class I have ever taken."
Spotlight: University and Professional Studies
Its shaping up to be the busiest fall in recent years for our University and Professional Studies (UPS) program. In 2019, we introduced three tracks corresponding to different language levels, and we are already seeing a more diverse UPS cohort. This year we have had students from every continent except Antarctica. If you have students who would like to take classes at a top university with Americans, check out University and Professional Studies.

Part-time study options now available for 8-week ESL
Starting October 2019, students who would like to study for 8 weeks or longer can take Communication and Culture or Intensive Academic English part-time (15 hours per week) and travel on a tourist visa or visa waiver. As the cost of student visas increases, we expect a growing demand for English language programs that do not require an F-1 visa. These part-time options for our two most popular 8-week ESL programs complement all the part-time options we already have for 4-week and 2-week ESL programs. Students can potentially combine an 8-week program with a 2-week or 4-week program to make up 10 to 12 weeks of studies (part-time or full-time).
Summer Programs
International high school students were recently on the UC San Diego campus for our Academic Connections International and American University Experience programs. They stayed in the university dorms with American high school students, took classes around campus, and got to know sunny San Diego! LEARN MORE ?

Warm greetings from UC San Diego. I am pleased to announce that UC San Diego Extension International Programs will launch a 4-week version of our popular 10-week University Preparation Academy, starting this summer.

In 2018, we will offer it in June, July, August, and September. Each 4-week module will contain about half of the content that has been offered in our 10-week UPA program. Students can take just one module or two consecutive modules to take most UPA classes. The university preparation classes offered include: Advanced Application of Grammar and Writing, Advanced Public Speaking Skills, Analytical Reading and Critical Response, Discussion and Fluency for University Success, University Lecture and Note-taking skills, Advanced Critical Analysis and Discussion, and a University Advising Lab.
