The Communication and Culture Program (CCP) is a comprehensive four-week program with four hours of instruction each day. It is ideal for participants of all English levels who want an intensive learning experience within a short time frame. This program is offered in both winter and summer and focuses on American culture and conversational fluency. The core classes are Intercultural Research Project, U.S. Society and Culture, Listening and Pronunciation, and Everyday Expressions and Idioms.
Participants must have a high-school diploma or be at least 18 years old to enroll in this program.

English for Global Business Program - 4 weeks

It is ideal for students who major in business-related fields or who wish to improve their English proficiency within business contexts. Business Communication Skills
Class length: 50 minutes (five days per week)
Improve speaking and pronunciation skills through directed practice in various functions of business communications, including:

Introduction to Entrepreneurship
Class length: 50 minutes (five days per week)

Intensive English - 10 weeks

Students have been coming to the University of California, Davis to learn English since 1977. Here in California they fulfill their dreams and create their futures. This 10-week program is offered year-round—in fall, winter, spring and summer quarters—and includes a total of 200 hours of instruction at eight different levels of proficiency. It is ideal for those wanting to learn English for academic, professional or social purposes.
Participants must have a high school diploma or be at least 18 years old to enroll in this program. Students under the age of 18 may want to consider one of our Youth Programs or Summer Camps.

Study Alongside American Students
With approval, 800-level students can audit and/or take one or two undergraduate courses for credit on the UC Davis campus. The university offers classes in more than 100 departments, from psychology to engineering to art.
Partial-Term Enrollment
Students can attend the first part of any 10-week session as long as they give advance notice to the IEPP office. They must attend a minimum of four weeks of the 10-week session.
Access to Academic Support
Students receive academic advising, including help with university applications. Lectures, workshops, individual meetings and information sessions are offered quarterly to ensure successful adaptation into U.S. academic culture.
Topics have included Time Management, Preparing for Exams, Applying to U.S. Universities and Resume Writing.
Placement by English Language Ability
Intensive English Program students are placed in one of eight proficiency levels based on a written and oral evaluation. Basic- and intermediate-level students focus on core grammar, listening and speaking skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary and composition courses in addition to a learning resource component for more extensive skills practice. High intermediate students can choose from elective courses, such as Intermediate Communication Skills, American Slang and Idioms, Drama, Pronunciation, U.S. Culture and Society, and Intermediate TOEFL Preparation. More advanced English-speaking students choose from among various core classes and electives, such as Advanced Reading, Advanced Media Discussion, Public Speaking, Current Business Trends, Advanced Writing and TOEFL Preparation. Some students choose to take courses for credit on the UC Davis campus or at UC Davis Extension.
Some students stay up to a year, progressing through greater levels of mastery. Students who plan to attend graduate school in the United States or work in an American setting often spend at least one quarter improving their English skills in the Intensive English Program in order to prepare.
